Is a change of attires in animation still relevant?

I was fallen to one article that is seems to be worthless, but that drawn passion throughout fans: The variety of attires in shows appear to me rather peripheral if there's one reason why many animated shows keep the same clothes, is for sells on consuming products. But many who do this practice seems to forget ONE essential key of the success of a production: Appeal!

When the producers of the classic Anime Sailor Moon have doing these clothing shifts to the girls characters in many of these episodes, it's as if they've trying anything to hide it to the radar. In later years, everyone seems to doing it and quality-wise, they've fallen all flat. From Kim Possible, to Totally Spies! to the countless Archies to My Hero Academia, every characters that having a sort of wardrobe can't hide the fact that it don't appear frequently at natural. Because an animated show is not about owning sense of fashion, but to tells a story. And when you spending too much times to explaining on social media about the attires variety to one character than the actual backstory, you know you're in trouble.

It's also one aspect that have kills the 2012s Littlest Pet Shop in the long run though. Look at this today! They're forgotten and this is the same, formulaic, Simpsons-kind of shows with characters wearing the same things for over two-three decades. That is a legacy to how your product have to appeal your audience.

People need to do more better things in life than just checking what characters have wear this in one story if that don't make a very interesting article to wrote home about. Especially if it were from productions that having such of a troubled crew by wanted anything to hide that too.

This is parts why such popular series have the characters wear the same thing in every episodes are about merchandising and be recognized to the masses. And no question. This is to me the right option if you wanna your product to be able to catters more away than the usual cartoons-fan-bubble. Some fans have lose completely some touchs with the reality due to that, I guess.
