Chronicling the 2016s year

One of the very fewer social media buzztrends that don't seems to came from the mere cave of a basement is the nostalgia for 2016, and with reason too. There's so much to saying about it.

That was perhaps the last year where everything turning normal and not atypical like it is nowadays the norm. It was a time of lasting-change and where the social issues making sense. There was the re-launch of MiNT that was applauded and enjoyed by fans, viewers and the Belgian musicians who waiting eight long years to gets this radio-station back.

Netflix weren't just disposed to be intrusive to the traditional media like it is the case today, and where a BDs Boom appeared with such surprises and excitement. But there were a fewer gaps to filling such nuances there.

The massive immigration from the Justin Trudeau politic party has landed that year. The release of the first Zootopia movie make us ask about the point to launch another Furries movie on a time where many pedophiles continue to lured children in their own privacy. The Bouquet channels that convincing consumers to paid for a slate of channels for a attractive cost were been replaced by a "A La Carte" paid channels, which it caused the death of many TV specialties for lack of subscribers and people losing patience with Cable for much affordable ones like streamings and the many FAST TV channels which you can watch the same show every hour and with fewer commercials that slipped in there.

And there was Donald Trump. To think he were re-elected twice in 2024 was clearly a radical game-changer after knowing that the left-winging clique were parts of responsibles to have leave hobos in our streets, the increase of essential needs like foods, that opportunists hacks, whom respect and civility are not their qualities, became the hottest things or the unability to have a land for a reasonable cost.

Since this day, everything has changed. For my hobby at comic-artist, thinking that we can convincing youths to read more BDs than screenings appear at illusional. This is now a has-been artform, and by known from my parents, Boomers and the people from their generation aged terribly in our era, by become likely to act like the parent of my own parents!

To what I look all-day, there is in 2026 a real problem about the basic civility, manners and respect class that appear frequently in mass-transit -- From the hipster girl who always had headphones in her ears for get free of the noise of the street to the one who act like a narcissic guy with sunglasses in our face! -- To say nothing the traffic with lots of drivers who ran like manic as they were all came from a Grand Thief Auto-vibe. People need some lessons of manners and why be part of the society is important if that built true, lasting communities and not act like if you came on a basement by doing a dance on Tiktok.

This is what you get if you took cartoons characters too seriously. The utter-unconnection with the world you'll came. The lack of interaction to drawn debates with real people. The issues between a fictional character, you and a real person is more blatant as long we seen too much people praise the newer animation products, on a time where longtime fans like me, just think it at a "woke" artform. This is why it's about time to disbanded the Animated Shorts Nominations for the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony if:

1) Movie screens still shown their hate for cartoons, especially if they've called at "shorts"!

2) The animation community is been more divided than it ever was, by make you known stuffs that otherwise, wouldn't think that it could existed, or be made.

I have to blame Alex Hirch and his Gravity Falls for at least, introducing us a level of sub-par quality that is all the more obvious in the newer productions than we could ever praised them.

2016 was likely a transitional year for artists and creators, and where social media were at the very top of their game. We couldn't says so ten years later, where the issues of fiction have no longer purpose to what would work on the logics of reality.
