Today appear to be the World's Cartoonists Day, according to a Blondie & Dagwood strip speaking about this day, the dream to be a comic-strip character and when them, have even each an electronic tablet to read! (How strange for comics characters that were a creation that date of the 1930s, by be then, the couple's dynamic is been a somewhat influence for The Jetsons' concept later.)
I wanna ask myself if every day have to meant for something. Past Thursday was the "Bugs Bunny Day" at an honor that April 30th 1938 makes the first rabbit's appearence, sorta. Actually, it does took him over two years to finally left his hole for heckling Elmer Fudd and other opponents with his enigmatic and intelligent behaviour. A trait that its "Prototypes" usually don't.
The term "cartoonist" in our age is simply baffling. It misdirected at someone you can't trust seriously, that anything he makes on actually represent his "looney" and also, defanged attitude. Jim Davis' Garfield sadly represented on decades that what makes laughs the audience is not about sense of comedy or timing, but to make unlikable characters by yelling their lines and also, swearing!
This is what the Disney Channel comedies of shows used to split the American youth audience by even presented the pre-teens actress and actors at ill-mannered and rude.
In Europe, they known that simply says "cartoonist" insult their work or art. They prefer the word "Illustrator" or "visual artist" by be more sophisticated and elegant, an approach that I tent to adopted after years to worked on such minimalistic artstyle for no payoff.
Today's sense of cartooning is not about a satire of the conditions of humanity, but to delivering lots of obligatory and forced puns and raunchy humor, like farts, toilets, or a pointless visual of someone's whose stink bad. That is a thing that almost every '90s and '00s TV animations were trapped. It did took almost a quarter-century to finally rid it, although that in some Europe cartoons like the very ill-fitting 2021s Smurfs, we can hear a poop sound of Baby Smurf in the end of one of their episodes.
One thing for sure; no need to be an expert for claims that the Americans don't have a strong reputation for the BDs, as we says a lot. Apart the ones from newspapers, some underground titles made for a small left clique or the eventual superhero ones, this is NOT exactly what the majority of average-americans would care of. But in Europe and here, this is big or at least, that was if nowadays, Mangas artists are the most hottests things since the past years by be able to make dialogues that sounds like real people instead to just follow "characters who just rehearsed their lines."
But the BDs artform anywhere wandering to a desert town that went the cause of the many mistakes done in the past. This is not Television, videogames, Internet, Mangas, Netflix or Podcasts that have kill it in its long run. They have just them to blame. In Europe, especially in the French nations, series that would be able to be translated and earning a fandom is very tricky to discern. And when the dialogues themselves are become much awkward than anything, there's no way to translated these.
The fewer series I have reading at young were the ones that were already "tested" and known to generations before I was born. What following next make me on an challenge to like it or skip it at all cost. I admit that I own a soft spot for Monster Allergy, when it weren't a French series, but a Italian one! Perhaps this is for the best that it ended when it was still fresh.
The past fifteen years to seen the genre at unconnected by their obsession for live-action movies based of BDs of old and an incentive way to make the narrative like another paid infomercial, this is like says that we don't created series, but... investments products!
Because everything that is wrote on these things are based of bluff! And from people who have none ideas or don't do its searchs for the subject matter. That is there many series are done by corporate-thinkings if you need someone to edit, funding, printing and make in life your damn long project that have took you one or two years to be made.
Be a cartoonist is like make everyting at weird and nonsensical like the countless Canadian cartoons that were shown on Teletoon or YTV from the mid-'90s until the current time. This is there I do make a good break of drawings and scrapped all projects that were to the table. It forced me to re-fixed my past works by read these and learn to drawn the right way.
Artificial intelligence art have to be our friend. Not an enemy to fight back. Unless you think your minimalistic artstyle consists of your own style, good luck to find any buyer to make a profit in such merch junk.
The good new is... I am going better than in the past week. And my another cough is gone after some pills and a good rest the past night.
Maybe Christine is no longer what I have in the cards by have done anything with already. But another from her will be my next and hopefully, one-off project, based of an idea I have created in 2014 but failed to completed when I was busy with the Christine's journey. And nope, this is not Judy Hopps!
