Is it supposed to be a gag?

By come close to be the first year this blog was made, it was originally to be a little history of the Brandy & Mr. Whiskers animated series and that it have reasonate well to the mid-00s audience as me. However, we'll known that this is not an ordinary cartoon show, with practices that were a little off-putting for any Disney's standards.

In the first producing cartoon episode, Mr. Whiskers' First Friend, the pair have finally found a home with the materials that were saved by their unescapable falling to the Amazon Rainforest. (A topic about this "falling" was soon to be publishing here.) and when their beds were filled by... an underwear and a bra? Who ever though that this supposing gag will work is either, oblivious or too stuck to its nostalgia past. But it had passed anyway, so that leads to something that weren't an ordinary TV cartoon that was seen at that time.

Anyway, the "gag" works by be much subtle than it ever praised it. But that don't excuse the fact that the characters been another victim of the rampant Rule 34 thing with shitloads of fanarts and fanfics that describe them at "sexual couples". I suppose that wrote lots of fanfics about sex is a little passé, when kissing a women consent-free is obligatory in the hands of the mainstream trial, via Facebook et all. Especially when #MeToo have all woke us of the unrevealed cases of sexual harassment in the showbiz world and that even make a joke about the rape pills is too controversial, since we'll know that Gisèle Beliquot was unwittingly raped for a decade by many males. Not that great to wrote a fanfiction about sex nowadays.

But by the time Brandy & Mr. Whiskers was pitched, produced and aired for that matter, reviews were rather a mixed gag. We'll know that the people from Toonzone hated the show. Most of the animation community hated it too. These lewd depictions of privacy parts on a animated show made for children is only haphazard, thought this is not the first time such innuendo things appearing in a daytime cartoon to the radar. Like the way Inspector Gadget's binaculars have exposed his eyes to the Lana Larmour's body (Also spotted her breasts) in Movie Set while he trying to proven anyone else that she is not a MAD agent. Of course he's wrong, but his love impulses have put the best of him.

In this, it's a little too complicit and hard to justify why such animated shows could be made. A show like this may be working well on a 1990s Nickelodeon animated series (See Rocko's Modern Life) if they would to, but NOT at a Disney Channel production. The gag here is too obvious to let any quacks doing lots of lame scripts about "Brandy is a sexy pooch", but to seen a real-life children cartoon series figuring an underwear and a bra for the protagonists' beds sheets is something that even the Hays Code would be frightening to seen it happening.

Althought I do enjoyed the show and its fandom for a longtime, I am no longer part of it since 2020. I get back to the same question that have plagued lots of animation fans when it ever started: Why is this one could exists?
