The previous blog's post was about the dreary unconnection of some internet fans about things that were common place in society and especially, of the reception most animated productions have by the internet that on the reality, not at much. I am continuing with this pattern here.
The past year, I have mentionned that I wasn't much a fan of the old Kim Possible cartoon show after seen episodes of it here and there. The character having a long one-year evolution before to came out of the beautiful and fearless orange-hair girl as we all know. I had mention about its fan-reception too before. It's on its humor and quirks that the series has constantly losing its appeal, to say nothing that characters like Ron Stoppable or the Kim's father were far more grating than entertaining and that the lead-character have to dealt on a world that she don't belong much.
Looking of it in 2025, a brand-new Kim Possible series would be somehow at a risk, if the world has changed a lot since its eventual end... in 2007. There were two names that comes the problem of why it never will pass in modern times: Disney Channel.
Whether you like it or not, Disney Channel own a love-hate reputation in the show-business, by producing lots of lame kidcoms about children actors talking loudly and on a very rude way about random things as someone has thinking that Jack Benny is a fictional character and not the actual comedian that has entertained million of audience in his radio and Tee-Vee days. Except, who from them knows who Jack Benny was? Because it don't come by just acting or thrown out one-liners from your mouth! It's about pacing that fits. And it's constantly a major problem in almost all of these kidcoms, besides they got the nerve to make them speaking to the camera as if the characters came from two alternate worlds. Is it was a thing too?
Albeit Kim was saved of it, by be fully-animated, it didn't saved of the Disney Channel formula unfortunately, by make the show very talkier, and where even villains where you suppose to be feared are just incompetent goofs who can't do a thing without someone more intelligent than them went there. Maybe make the old series at more serious and Kim at a badass character would never fit to the policies of the studio unfortunately, by be intented to kids first.
This is there that Kim Possible as we know today, seems to came part of productions that went more known by the internet world than in the real life. Like Totally Spies!, and where its last season was much a gimmick for please nostalgic fans, but without that went from an initial goal like that was over 30 years ago for The Flintstones. Because the biggest Hanna-Barbera's property was a hallmark for animation by be the first-ever animated show programming on Prime-Time by ran it for six seasons. In the Spies case, what was actually the point to launching one new season except for please sexist fanatics and their lewd impulses?
Like many people today, I wish sometimes that the internet to never existed, or be keeped in privacy. By all these datas leaks, banking scams, Artificial Intelligence cloning vocals or even so, the very frustrating representation of women and children in sexual directions that comes here and there, a return to reality is what we ask all for. I thought that the Teens Drama concept at awfully dated by be burried to never went back, but in the streaming days, newer contents that target teenagers went more further and in much artistical directions than in the Kim Possible days, by representing characters at real people and not the stereotypes that were always associated with. That also went by accurate representation of cultural minorities that the TV cartoon of old never make.
The old series has lasted five seasons (2002-2007) by also breaking-up the old 65-episodes policy of the company that dated from The Disney Afternoon block days. But some fans weren't that impressed to revisiting the show few years later after it's all gone. We do understand this.
How that Kim and company were able to surviving by the internet and not that on its merchandising? There were a real case of snubbery from creators in the long 00s, to not letting their creative works be included on consumming products as it represented hell for their livings. Hanna-Barbera and other animated studios were able to pulling their own characters to commerces without that anyone will ever complaining. But over 40 years later, the industry needed a break of merchandising, and that kills any potential to seen our characters otherwise than in Television if you ask me.
Internet only worsen the shows we love and care, by many hideous fanarts and sexist fanfics from people who have never known the people who worked there at first place. It's Korra before that the character ever existed. A fanservice character-lead that often exists like a lure in order to please the loot of metrosexuals with their perverse agendas.
That maybe explain why most popular animated productions from the 00s are so far, unlikable and rather toxic to follow. This is REALLY likely that it's made by guys who hate children by pull lots of sadistic and gross jokes by thought seriously this is comedy. And in Kim's case, where everything need to have long and overbearing dialogues in these. Not that surprising why it never gotten any official graphic novel or comic-book adaptation for that matter.
