AshxMisty: A (false) love affair

Ugh!! Looks like that we're in 2000 again!

Back in the late-90s/early-00s, fan-reactions remained at wild about the supposed AshxMisty romantic bond from the original Pokemon TV Anime series. Of course, the "love" declaration between the two friends was never made in the actual body of the TV show, but it don't stop some creepy fanatics to made a living with that, from a sort of romance that had never existed, but keep to thinking again, a quarter-century later that Ash and Misty have to be done at a couple.

For make things with nuances and some logic, first, the franchise is not about love, but invited fans to the mysterious world of Pokemons, despite its very Toy-tic theme.

Secondly, Ash and Misty have to never met first. It happened at an accident. In the first episode, after Misty catching Ash and Pikachu with her fishing pole, the boy in aftermath have to using Misty's bike for save him to Sparrows by one of his first failures. Misty was likely obligated to join Ash in his quest, but only to make sure that the latter refund the bike he's broken. It NEVER, NEVER meant to be a romantic couple! All these statements are reason why I couldn't trust fans anymore, to bragging the same repetitive things from almost three decades past. This is not a Hallmark movie, but a TV Anime about Pokemons. Isn't it enough obvious?

I admit, I was involved in some strange ways to this fan-popularity by the older days of online forums and when Pokemon been an instant craze. For much today's youths, it's a part of their childhood. For people like me who were enough older back it all started, it epitomized all the problematics with Anime series made solely for sells toys and cards. Thankfully, it didn't reached the same bombardment of tedium and hackneyed production-quality like Digimon: Digital Monsters (Although there's still fans) and other Monsters series does.

Besides, the early episodes showed Ash at a very inept Pokemon trainer who just knowing its conventions while watching tournaments on TV. It's like the 1950s Daffy Duck as a inept hero that Robert McKimson seems to own a soft spot with. Ash Ketchum wanna prove to the world that he is determinate to be claims like the Next Pokemon Master, but he do failed by his own incompetence. Well, "incompetence" is too hard for describe such of a boy-lead character. This is why he needed mentors like Misty or Brock and that he winning some badges in the ease, but that don't hide the fact that the crew was a little too kind with him. Make him with Misty at a romantic couple went soured with the same issues and coupling problems many real-life couples have to standing again today.

This is reason why Morris' Lucky Luke will never marry a women. Because that would made him like a lazy and associal bum, and then, father figure at this point. Besides, would you imagine him make a family and buying a dude ranch? And where Jolly Jumper or the Dalton foes will going if it does  actually happening due to such irritating fangirls? (Fangirls seems to be more obnoxious to rational though than the males counterparts will.)

And then goes the point to praising a fictional couple. Such of a lovely and romantic thing would be very irritating if the same thing does happen in the real-life. And by Harvey Weinstein and the many cases of sexual harassment in society and show-business, the whole Ash and Misty Show concept at an actual loving bond will bogged down when many youths are faced with discrimination of homophobia in schools, that the gender theory became a concept that went very extreme to any concerned parenting groups, that transgender don't exists, that a trans women is not a women or that the sexual diversity as LGTBQ+21A is less helped in current times by the Donald Trump presidency and the right-wing who growth sick of everything's "woke". And sadly, fans still praising it as we still are in 2000 when the following year, it went out of style because eventually, you can't make a couple between two characters only based of speculations or educated guesses.

This is there the TV writers were very smart to not indulging it in screen. Because such of a revelation may kills in the cards and toys sales. The comeback of Misty and Brock on a 2016s episode was solely made for fanservice by be at its execution, very forced. Like, why is Ash couldn't seen Misty when she waving him after years of dormance, but then goes to Brock instead? Apparently, the TV writers didn't trusted that such of reunion would giving to fans their longtime due. For older fans, it's bad new because the AshxMisty love revelation was never made. For newcommers, it's bad new too, if the love revelation was never made. Then, Misty's involvement in the Pre-Horizons later seasons having none context and serve no points but mere window-dressing.

When Pokemon Horizons arrived last year, many fans were angered that Ash and company were nowhere to be found. It's a shame that after over a quarter-century of fanfictions, fanarts, dedications and petitions, the AshxMisty bond was clearly never be seen... And this is perhaps for the better if that would killing it in the ratings. After all, such of a romantic couple worth of a cheesy Hallmark movie have none places in the reality of today, where feminists argue mens to stop kissing women without their consentment and that they working more harder than their males colleagues for lower pay. Figured that Ash and Misty will earned a normal, coupling-life with the many issues of adulthood explain why several Pokemon fans have lose completely touch with the reality for embrace a whimsical version of romance that have stop to be great once you know this is the womens who going to lead the world in the upcoming years. Such ironic for what was supposed to be great friends in the real-life in order to not just be attached to a show's cast.
