The early days of Internet, and especially from animation forums, weren't that friendly with the Pokémon community. Parenting groups complained of the kind of brainwash these cards and toys would affect to children while some Woke university intellectuals interacted to it at a signal of the deterioration of our humanity. In spite of that, the TV Anime has giving jobs to countless animators, writers, producers, colorists, Digital artists and especially voice-actors and actress where otherwise, they would remains unemployed. This is still cheap Television, but compared to what it came out nowadays, the older seasons looked like as they were still finished in their own native country instead to just ordered animations bits by overseas studios like the way American cartoons were farmed since the 1980s.
Such revelation that would be otherwise great if that was taken on a lukewarm Hallmark movie will be toxic if the same thing does happening in the real world. Ash and Misty would have a hard time to co-housing together for the way they were treated together at crap in the TV show!
Like in others great TV shows casts, such as The Flintstones, The American Pokémon voice-actors were looked each other with the biggest respect and care. It's not a surprise if my generation was intrigued by the Ash-Misty supposed romantic bond. Veronica Taylor (Ash) and Rachael Lillis (Misty) were looked like strong pals in the real-life. Because Veronica has funded a GoFundMe times ago to honored a New York City park to the name of Misty's voice-actress and colleague of her. Like on any jobs there, this is on the unpredictability that the most biggets mets can be made.
Unlike says, the 1989s Mel Blanc passing, where Bugs Bunny was helped by newer voice-actors on the likes of Jeff Bergman, Billy West for Space Jam, Joe Alasky in the fewer 2000s original Bugs shorts and Eric Bauza for the HBO Max's Looney Tunes Cartoons series of shorts, I have high doubts that Misty would make an eventual return without the Rachael Lillis' involvement, especially if her comeback in the Pre-Horizons seasons were likely forced instead of a natural continuation. I mean, is the journey to be the next Pokémon Master has ended for 25 years or minutes?
When Pokémon Horizons came, it was a very bitter event if nobody from the Anime we'll known and love are there. Just newer characters by faking the impression of an epic adventure. Like the way Warner Bros.-Seven Arts has made an unimpressive effort to tackle Cool Cat or Merlin the Magic Mouse at potential new stars, the ones from Horizons are more inconsistent, so much that I don't even known their names, even over a year after it was made! The voice-actors and actress of the Anime were the heart of we, at fans, old and new, have growth with it, like a strong united family. The feminist and mature side of the classic Anime is now abandonned since everything has an Emoji face in the later years. (Ash is badly recognizable in there!)
The passing of Rachael Lillis was somehow, a signal that the heydays of Pokémon is definitely over, even if newer episodes of these are still airing every week. Say what you will about The Simpsons, but besides that they have predicted lots of topical things that become real, they never betrayed the premise by keep exactly the characters like we known and love since emerging the TV airwaves first in 1990, without known if that would be renewed forever.
But Pokémon never had this chance. A grown-up version of Ash and Misty where they struggling to the harsh realities of adulthood (Owning a rent, pay taxes, run a politic party, etc.) never will make any sense for such childish property. It's an absurd concept first, but it works on its execution and by memorable characters that even the Franco comics of old has took years to be finally recognized.
