Thea Sisters: DeviantArt style!
Looking of the cover book seen above, we finally know why Albin Michel has give up with these in pandemic time! We should be grateful to that. The newer characters designs that all beginning with the very murky Thea Sisters: Best Friends the past year are just ugly to look. An awkward "Outer Space" representation to what se suppose to known and love from them. Characters with big lips are becoming a trope of itself since the Minstrel joke were taking over, so much that they looked like as if the "artists" (If they're some) have put in purpose to do a sorta cliché Blackface gag to the rodent protagonists. In 2025, who ever asking that?
If that went for artistic minds or doing something different with is hard to figured out. But all this is unnecessary if the older designs didn't were distracting for fans all around.
Looking of it 14 years later, the franchise is now a shadow of its former self. To me, its dark ages has beginning in years like 2018 where I complained everywhere that they released too much narratives the same month by chopped down tons of trees (See my eco-friendly millitantism to this) with barely any explanation if there was some major fix to the dialogues. Because, what is the point that the characters are all mices, but for some lame wordplays with rodent, mouse or cheese?
This is also point me that the current online Anthro community is devoid of nuances by put all these things to bullied and tormented womens or children alike. The 2025s movie business is full of useless retreads like the very woke James Gunn's Superman, (SuperWoke as it was says on CNN!) Furry stuffs that have no place elsewhere, except on DeviantArt like The Bad Guys 2 or worse, a Zootopia movie sequel -- On a time where layoffs and jobs cuts became more typical, that renting strangled household in close of evictions for an unlegal Air BnB oulet and that just the basic stuff, like eggs, milk, bread or butter are close to be a thing for all the ultra-unconnected big guys who have never seen what looked like to work in a school or hospital for a day (With a lunch-box too!).
This is what forced me to shown more respect to the 1970s Cinema decade: It was a time of changes of mentality and motions with brilliant filmmakers who have made the best movie scholars for reached this profession. By portray people with real wits and three-dimensional personalities and themes that proven to be mature and adult without the edgier, sex or gore stuff. It was at time, mainstream and Auteur without just thinking to the paychecks. Sadly, the animated features are still the poor child of the artform. For most of us, animated features have the bad habit to went with very predictable outings, childish plots and over-the-top dialogues that are more offensive than entertaining.
The fewers greats are not many, like the 1971s Lucky Luke, (Often billed by mistake at Daisy Town, but that was never intented to be it since the Lucky Luke title was billed when the original film start by be also the actual movie's name on the original production pitch.) Ballad of Daltons (An underrated and well-paced classic due to its inclusion on Ciné-Cadeau every year, but that reach lots of familiarty to anyone who have grow with these characters in BDs. No mention that René Gosciny has passed away long before the film was showed in theaters.) or miraculously, The 12 Tasks of Asterix by be a mini-masterpiece of using animation at its full advantage and to the lunacy of the bureaucraty world that we have to ask if Asterix and Obelix didn't getting the pass for access to the 38 door (With some very hysterical Obelix's animations in the most wildest animated part of that time!), maybe they will be screwed to this Nuts house forever!
Those are bold examples that were ignored, or worse, deemed oblivious to the whole animation movie industry over a mid-century later. The Thea Sisters franchise, by its horrific "improved" designs clearly tell me the point that it is perhaps a good thing that Albin Michel have abandonned with these before anything came out for the worse. At least, the Lauren Faust Mane 6 didn't has deteriorated to such of lifeless characters designs back this My Little Pony (Not that idiotic sequel series Netflix has rejected already and that Bronies has hated it.) series was the concern of all fans and non-fans anywhere online unlike this, when that continue in all the wrong directions with the sub-Geronimo Stilton series.
The rodent girls deserve a permanent rest. The Girls Power shtik from hysteric Tumblr feminists is gone. Its about time that anybody from Italia's Piemme knows this.
