As we'll probably know, commercials can make some audience utterly crazy. A lot. Many ads seems very weird and over-the-top on its content, as if the writers have consumming too much energy drinks before to made the pitchs. Especially on a very mediatic event like the Olympic games by their sponsors. They also depict lots of bad habits by also illustrate a very pitiful representation of humanity by make them at unresponsible spoiled-brats who made lecturing for no reason. They even got the nerve to steal humorists' jokes. You know, when you working on a gag for over a year and then, someone noticing that by take it without any form of authorization of your own, it speaks volumes of the way intellectual property are treated in medias and society. Artists have to fight back against these opportunistic idiots to be paid for their hard work!
It's such a dillema that nowadays, commercials lacks of appeal, common sense and style. And then, they grab it violently with a song that don't actually match with the ad. Again, most advertising agencies don't ask to the labels for the use of these materials, either they have issues of what the "artist" means in his/her work. We really are on an age of Far-West with the copyright infringement due to the popularity of Internet, streaming and the bad memories of online piracy. Something that most radios still practice when the quota of local contents are not even respected and followed anymore.
But in politic like in ads or anywhere, if you wanna add a song to this, just do the decent thing: You need to get the legal authorization of not only the main artist, but the label for that matter. Because it's the only way to shown support and respect to the works of creators all around. You know how difficult it is to be an artist by Spotify and mainstream radios that gives them murky royalties, just enough for them to pay the groceries and the bills?
All artists are also people who have a family life and they deserve all respect, kindness and empathy. Even if it's related to their artistic career. As if it's so easy to take them for free to what may be otherwise their breadwinner.
